“This is the solstice, the still point of the sun, its cusp and midnight, the year’s threshold and unlocking, where the past lets go of and becomes the future; the place of caught breath”
— Margaret Atwood
𓇸 Welcome to the third and final Sitting in the Dark Solstice recording, on the cusp of the Solstice.
𓇸 We have spent the last two weeks growing more comfortable with and exploring the dark. Asking what it has to offer us, how it might be a container, a support. Learning to sit in it.
You can listen back to no. 1 & 2 here:
𓇸 For this final session I invite you to join me in the womb of the year. I invite you to sit with me, to trust the stillness, trust the dark. In Irish we call the Winter Solstice Grianstad an Gheimhridh or ‘sun standing still’. A pause in the turning of the year. A still point when all around us is spinning.
𓇸 For this session, have your journal and pen, a candle and a lighter/matches nearby.
𓇸 Make the space you are in as dark as you can. Electrical lights off, even candles snuffed out.
𓇸 Set aside 15-30 minutes to listen and then explore the prompts I share.
As ever, I love hearing what landed or sparked for you, so feel free to share in the comments below.
𓇸 I’ll be writing again to you this Sunday with a final post of 2025.
Speak to you then amigas,
Layla x
