REST can sometimes feel dangerous

no. 2 of three audio pauses as we move into the dark womb of winter

“You do not have to choose
one or the other: a dream or a dreamer, the
bird or the birder. You may be a woman of
commotion and quiet. Magic and brain.

You can be a mother and a poet. A wife and
a lover. You can dance on the graves you dug
on Tuesday, pulling out the bones of yourself
you began to miss.”

Kate Baer, What Kind of Woman

Hi friends and welcome to this the second in the Sitting in the Dark Solstice recordings.

These sessions, along with the live Sitting in the Dark calls each Friday, are a seasonal gift for my paid subscribers. If you’d like to join us for these quiet pauses as we approach the solstice and the end of the year, you can subscribe here:

In the first session last week we dropped into the dark, and explored what it might have to offer us. You can listen back here:

This week we are exploring REST and the idea of being HELD.
Fifteen minutes to settle amongst the overwhelm of this time of year.
A reminder that nature is doing something else entirely.

These recordings have emerged from prompts I share with my Sitting in the Dark group when we gather early on a Friday morning (last session next Friday 19th - you’d be so welcome to join!), and so I am inviting you to listen to these recordings in the dark. Early in the morning, after the sun has set. Turn all electric light off. Make a warm drink, cosy up with a pen and paper and see what comes.

Let’s begin (written copy below also if that works better for you).
