Hey Layla, happy new year and Nollaig na mBan! I've read several of the same books as you (Orbital, Minor Detail, So Late in the Day, Small Things Like These, Underland too although it was last year) and I'm also eagerly waiting for my copy of Threatening Women. Now I'm off to add Wake of the Whale to my library wishlist!

By the way, it's Claire Keegan, not Hennessy.

I have Sins of my Father by Lily (Dr Lily Dunn) lined up to read next, and I also can’t recommend her Substack and workshops on writing memoir highly enough. Thank you for the reminder about Underland, and recommendation of Eve, which sounds fascinating and very timely! Giant on the Skyline is about my very familiar home landscape and on my list too

Yes, I’m doing a series of workshops with her at the moment & finding v helpful. And her Substack is super. Love to hear your thoughts on any of the books you read!

Thank you so much for the mention, Layla, and happy new year! I too loved Orbital and All Fours 😳

Two very different books, both equally great! Happy new year to you too 💙

Orbital and The Giant On The Skyline are already on my to read list, adding the other books you’ve mentioned now! I’m halfway through All Fours after also not doing as much reading as I’d planned over Christmas, and I have a LOT of thoughts about it so far!

Share your thoughts when you’re done, would love to hear!

Definitely! Beginning to suspect it may end up as a post on my substack as I have an ever expanding Notes app of quotes from the book and thoughts and questions and tangents!
