When I’m not writing or caregiving, I work as a Five Element Acupuncturist. I often think as I treat a person, counting down the vertebrae of their spine, following the curve of their ribs, finding a dip at their ankle, in the crease of their wrist, I think what an honour it is to be granted permission to navigate a body in this way. How fantastic, too, the landscape of our skin, the geography of our sinews and muscles, the scaffolding of our bones.
