Hello friends,
We had a really lovely hour together last night preparing for Sitting in the Dark. For those of you who couldn’t make it to the live call, I’m sharing a short audio introduction to the sessions, plus audio and written intention setting prompts.
None of these are necessary to join us on Friday, there are here as an added preparation and support. You can also use the prompts to set your intentions around another time of day that you want to carve out for yourself.
These prompts and recording are free for all subscribers. If you would like to continue to join us for the month, please upgrade to a paid membership.
Here’s more info on the Sitting in the Dark Sessions if you’re curious / catching up!
Intention Setting Prompts
1. How do you want this time to feel?
Close your eyes for a moment, try to feel into it. Then open your eyes and write down three words for how you would like this time to feel.
Here are some of the words that were shared on the live call.
Calm, settled, tended
Swimming under water
Centred, creative, expansive,
Held, met, connected
Peace, Power, Strength
Held, open, connected
Flow
Allow
A gift to myself
The dark feels like time outside of time.
2.How would you like to spend this hour?
You can think practically - I want to write, paint, read.
You can think energetically - I want to see what comes.
You can think about what you don’t want to do - use a computer, work on a current project, abide by ‘shoulds’.
3.What do you need to support you for the hour?
Physically – pen, notebook, tea, candlelight, matches, art materials?
Support-wise - how can you ensure the space is held for you?
Can you create a ritual of preparing the night before?
Go earlier to bed?
Explain to kids, prepare entertainment for early-rising kids, brief a partner?
Remove distractions - don’t turn on your phone? leave the lights off?
4.If it doesn’t work out (because, well, life) – how can you be kind enough and flexible enough to find another way ?
Are there ten minutes later in the day you can find to bring that three words you wrote about above to life? Will another morning work instead?
5.Finally - look back at the first question – your three words.
Is there anything else you can do so you feel these words?
Thank you for sharing the prompts Layla! I had to duck out of the live early so missed some of them. Glad I can catch up before Friday! PS. I woke up naturally (no alarm) at 5:45 today so my body must be warming itself up for the first session.
